What is Conventional (Regular) Oil?

Conventional oil, or “regular” oil is a petroleum based material used in internal combustion engines, and has been for many years, to provide lubrication to internal parts and reduce engine wear. Essentially, it’s distilled from crude oil that’s mined from the earth. It also helps protect the engine and parts from high temperatures.

What is Synthetic Oil?

Synthetic oil is also petroleum based, it’s designed to provide enhanced lubrication properties and it’s more stable than conventional oil. When comparing synthetic vs. conventional oil, you’ll find the former oxidizes less easily than the latter. Synthetic oils are also better at retaining protective properties. They are developed from petrochemicals in intense chemical processes to provide specific properties. This also makes the price of synthetic oil vs. regular oil more expensive. Synthetic oils are also less viscous at lower temperatures, they also provide enhanced engine cleaning, and protect critical turbocharger parts.

Full Synthetic Oil vs. Synthetic Blend

Synthetic oils and conventionals, sometimes referred to as mineral oils, aren’t the only blends available. There are also full synthetic oil vs. synthetic blends, they are made up of both synthetic and conventional oils making them more affordable than a full-synthetic, while still providing enhanced performance for Florence drivers compared to conventional oil.

Considerations: Some vehicles require full synthetic oil, and that may include your Ford, Lincoln, Volvo vehicle! Confirm inside your owner’s manual or contact our service team if you’re unsure about what kind of oil your vehicle requires.
