Ford vehicles offer a wide range of technologies engineered and included to help ensure our owners’ mobility experience allows them to connect to their world in the way they are most comfortable.

Recommended Path

The following is the recommended “connected technologies” path. You’ll want to keep these steps in mind.

#1 FordPass

FordPass is our mobility app that amplifies the ownership experience. You can use the FordPass app to:

  • Find a nearby gas station
  • Call for roadside assistance
  • Learn about the vehicle
  • Check FordPass Rewards
  • Review service history
  • Receive timely service reminders
  • Talk with FordPass guides

#2 FordPass Connect & Wi-Fi Hotspot (if equipped)

FordPass Connect & Wi-Fi Hotspot is our available 4G embedded modem. FordPass Connect expands the capabilities of the vehicle and the FordPass app. Once activated, you can use it to:

  • Remotely start the vehicle/schedule specific times to remote start
  • Lock/unlock the doors
  • Locate the vehicle
  • Check statuses such as fuel level
  • FordPass Connect also features a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Provides Wi-Fi connection for laptops, tablets, smartphones
  • Connects up to 10 devices at a time
  • Maintains a connection up to 50 feet from the vehicle
  • Trial Period
  • 1 year for remote features
  • 3 months/3gb for Wi-Fi hotspot

#3 SYNC 3

SYNC 3 serves up the latest advancements in voice recognition and system performance with an easy-to-use interface design. Use SYNC 3 to access and adjust in-vehicle:

  • Music
  • Climate control
  • Phone
  • Navigation (if equipped)
  • Apps
  • Vehicles settings

#4 SYNC 3 AppLink

SYNC 3 AppLink is standard with SYNC 3. It allows customers the ability to access and voice control many of their favorite, compatible apps. The easy-to-use area automatically loads SYNC-enabled apps onto your vehicle’s touchscreen from your paired and connected smart phone. You can use it to access compatible apps on screen or by using voice commands.

#5 Android Auto Connectivity OR Apple CarPlay Connectivity

Android Auto allows owners to talk to Google to interact with their Android Smartphone. Apple CarPlay allows owners to use Siri to interact with their iPhone while driving.

  • With Android Auto, you can:
    • Make calls/return missed calls
    • Listen to voicemail
    • Send, receive and reply to text messages
    • Access music through your favorite apps
    • Utilize Waze
    • Use Google Maps that provide voice-guided navigation, live traffic information and estimated travel time
  • With Apple CarPlay, you can:
    • Make/return missed calls
    • Listen to voicemail
    • Send, read and reply to text messages
    • Access your songs and playlists
    • Utilize Waze
    • Use Apple Maps for turn-by-turn directions, review of traffic conditions and estimated travel time
